  • Ten biblical principles concerning sexual sin: pgs. 188-194
    1. It is God’s will that we be pure (1 Thessalonians 4:3,7)
      • when God calls us out of darkness into His marvelous light, He expects us to walk in that light
    2. We are to be in control of our bodies (1 Thessalonians 4:4,5)
    3. Immoral people will be punished (1 Thessalonians 4:6)
    4. It is not good for a man to sexually arose a woman except, of course, for a husband and wife (1 Corinthians 7:1)
    5. Your sexual desires are to be met by your spouse (1 Corinthians 7:2)
    6. Lustful sexual thoughts are sinful (Matthew 15:18-20)
    7. God forgives any sexual sin at the moment of salvation (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)
    8. We are to run from immorality (1 Corinthians 6:15-20)
    9. Homosexuality is a form of perverted sexual lust (Romans 1:24-28)
    10. Seven reasons why adultery is especially serious:

      4. Adultery can be destructive to a physical relationship with your spouse (Proverbs 5:15-19)
      5. Adultery obscures the nature of righteous love (1 Corinthians 15:5-6)
      6. Adultery violates the fact that marriage pictures Christ and the church (Ephesians 5:25-27)
      7. Adultery spawns other sins such a s jealousy, lies, murder, and strife (Proverbs 6:34; 6:16-19)
  • The biblical antidote to sexual sin: pgs. 195-199
    1. Put off sexual sin by putting on the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 13:13-14)
    2. Make no provision for the flesh (Romans 13:14)
      • provisions for the flesh are things that would tempt or entice you to sin… romantic novels, the internet, soap operas, certain movies and songs, being around a particular man… pornography
    3. Analyze your thoughts to see if they are pure (Philippians 4:8)
      • a pure thought does not lead to lust. It is a thought that would stand the scrutiny of God and pass the test
    4. Clear your conscience [seek accountability] (1 John 1:9; Matthew 5:23-24)
    5. Memorize scripture (Psalm 119:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8)
    6. Flee immorality and gaurd your heart (1 Corinthians 6:18-20)
    7. Meditate on the cross and on the outcome of sin (James 1:13-16; Isaiah 53:5-6)
